Will the new British PM be denied Visa to PNG for his “Cannibals & Chief-killers” insults?

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, in 2006, had linked the Labour Party to “Papua New Guinean-style orgies of Cannibalism and Chief-killing” – an insult that saw protest from PNG’s High Commission in London.

Mr. Johnson will who is voted in this month (July) is likely to face challenges from World leaders whom he had labelled their countries with insults and stereotypical satire.

Papua New Guineas are people of diverse cultures with progressive society and a vibrant Democracy where cannibalism and chief-killing are no longer the norms.

The then PNG’s High Commissioner to London, Jean Kekedo, was appalled and requested for an apology. However, Mr. Johnson never gave a dime and said he had “put PNG on the global itinerary of apologies”.

Mr. Johnson had insulted an entire country of proud people with a strong identity.

Thirteen (13) years on, no proper apology has come out from the British High Commission in Port Moresby as expected, and the guy (Johnson) is now voted the PM.

Papua New Guineans have been inviting the good PM to visit their country if he had ever changed his perception and if he would like to see things for himself first-hand.

PM Johnson might be refused a Visa to PNG

Ms. Kekedo said, in an interview with BBC’s Radio 4’s, “Mr. Johnson would visit my country, although he might be refused a visa because of his comments”.

Since Ms. Kekedo’s outburst, the diplomatic redtape is understood to be unresolved.

From a Diplomatic standpoint, business may not be usual until this is sorted because, the insult had not gotten down too well with this Pacific nation.

Even after over a decade, the British High Commission in Port Moresby is expected to respond to the citizens of Papua New Guinea.

Meanwhile, other global leaders are expecting Mr. Johnson to deliver the same for the numerous insults, blunders and stereotypical satire he had made during his term as a politician and columnist.
